Celtic fans have had their say on the idea of Steve Clarke managing the Hoops following Scotland’s friendly defeat to the Ivory Coast.
The Tartan Army were beaten by the African nation as part of their final preparations for the 2026 World Cup, days after losing at home to Japan.
Clarke’s contract expires after this summer’s tournament and the 62-year-old has been linked with Celtic in the past, but how do our fans on TalkingPoints feel about it?
Steve Clarke to Celtic: yes or no?
Celtic fans don’t want Steve Clarke to become the new manager
Despite all of the work that Clarke has done in helping transform Scotland from being nearly men into a team capable of qualifying for major international tournaments, Celtic fans are completely against him being in the Celtic Park dugout.
One 67 Hail Hail fan said: “A big no-no. Deserves plaudits for Scotland job, but doesn’t mean he should be Celtic manager. His style of play is woeful too.”

A second commented: “No way, his style of football is absolutely atrocious.”
Another added: “Not a chance. Same goes for [Robbie] Keane & [Craig] Bellamy.”
This TalkingPoints user exclaimed: “NOOO!”
What has Steve Clarke said about Kieran Tierney?
Several Celtic players, past and present, have worked under Clarke since he took the reins of the Tartan Army.
Kieran Tierney is one of those who has become a stalwart in his team, often playing as a left-sided centre-back in a 3-5-2 formation and the Scotland boss would certainly make him one of his key players.
Do you think Kieran Tierney has been Celtic’s best player this season?
Tell us who you think it is if not…
Speaking in June 2025, he said: “Obviously he’s shown over his career that he’s a top, top player. We’re lucky to have him. In recent years, he’s had one or two little injury issues that has probably restricted his number of caps.
“We should be grateful that we’ve got him.”
