Celtic have been linked with Scott McKenna following his impressive displays with Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia.
Zagreb reportedly want £10m for McKenna, who is someone the Celtic fans know well after the Hoops tried to sign him while he was at Aberdeen.
He moved south of the border to play for Nottingham Forest but has spent the last few years overseas and, although he is a boyhood fan of the club, the Bhoys should avoid making an approach for the Scotland international.
You have been given £10m to sign one player for Celtic in the summer transfer window…
Which player are you spending that money on?
Why Celtic shouldn’t sign Scott McKenna
McKenna isn’t the first player to have been linked with the Hoops on more than one occasion, but the Bhoys need to stop looking to the past.
The fact that the Croatian club want £10m for a 29-year-old should already be a red flag for the club, especially when that money can be invested elsewhere.
Defensive reinforcements are important but, if Celtic are to drop close to their record fee paid for a transfer, that can be used in the attacking departments.
Celtic have plenty of experienced heads in the defence with Liam Scales, Auston Trusty and Cameron Carter-Vickers. Younger, fresher targets that can bolster the squad would show so much more ambition.

Celtic’s rebuild won’t be an overnight job
This could be Celtic’s biggest rebuild since the Ange Postecoglou era and may take more than one transfer window to fully assemble a new team.
At least seven-eight signings are required and, if certain players depart, more will need to come in too.
Blending youth and experience is obviously important, but £10m deals should be reserved for players with a long-term career here, not two or three years.
