Celtic loanee Vakoun Bayo and his Toulouse side missed out on promotion to Ligue 1 over the weekend, losing to Nantes on away goals in a play-off.
Bayo found himself on the scoresheet in the dramatic match at Stade de la Boujaire, netting his 13th goal of the season in all competitions. [Transfermarkt]
Remarkably, it was another header he scored – his sixth headed goal of the season – as his reputation as ‘The Helicopter’ continues to build. [Toulouse FC]
Nine of those goals have also come since February, suggesting that he is beginning to find his groove.
Does Vakoun Bayo have a Celtic future?
The Ligue 2 side have an option to buy the Ivory Coast international but it remains to be seen whether their promotion failure will impact their ability to take Bayo to France on a permanent basis.
He could well end up having a future at Celtic Park, especially since the situation with strikers at the club isn’t exactly clear heading into next season.
Odsonne Edouard is almost certainly on the verge of an exit while there are question marks about the ability of Leigh Griffiths and Albian Ajeti to stay fit and compete.
Bayo hasn’t exactly shown much for Celtic either, but at least he’s contributed effectively to his loan club’s season.
Having an aerially dominant forward in the Bhoys frontline doesn’t sound like the worst idea in the world to me and, under a new manager, I’m willing to give anyone a shot to impress.
It could be that the 24-year-old doesn’t fancy a return to Glasgow and if that’s the case we obviously shouldn’t stand in his way.

Part of me can’t help but think he has unfinished business at the Hoops. But I guess that will depend on the opinion of Ange Postecoglou and his outlook on what is needed in the Celtic attack.
Still, a decent season for Bayo and whether at the Bhoys or elsewhere, I hope he continues to bang in the goals.
In other news, Ange Postecoglou is sounding out contacts on the situation at Celtic.
