Celtic should appoint English coach pushing PSG and breaking records instead of Kieran McKenna

The search for Brendan Rodgers’ successor goes on.

It was a brutal ending for Rodgers at Celtic, but whilst that noise will continue in the background, several coaches have been linked to the vacant gig in Glasgow, including Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna.

Ideally, fans would want Celtic to bring in a coach with European experience and trophies to his name, because there is no pressure like it than at Parkhead.

But if the champions of Scotland aren’t going to go down that road, and they want to replace Rodgers with a young and upcoming coach who doesn’t have that title-winning experience.

Then park aside McKenna at Ipswich Town, and head towards France because one of the best young coaches in world football is making a name for himself.

Celtic should look to appoint Strasbourg coach Liam Rosenior instead of Kieran McKenna

In a few years, it won’t be a surprise if Liam Rosenior is at a major European team because he has made a brilliant start to his managerial career.

The 41-year-old is currently in charge of Ligue 1 side RC Strasbourg, and they are two points behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain after ten matches – Le Racing recently drew 3-3 at PSG, with Rosenior playing an attacking style full of young blood.

Strasbourg missed out on Champions League football on the last day of last season, but Rosenior still guided them into the Europa Conference League.

What’s even more incredible about Rosenior’s performances in France is how he is going about it.

No team in Europe’s top five leagues (England, Spain, France, Germany and Italy) has used more U21 players than the former fullback.

Celtic’s squad needs a refresh, and being a step ahead by bringing in Rosenior to take the Hoops into a new era would be a risky, but brave and potentially highly-rewarding move.

Rosenior’s managerial path so far…

Rosenior started his coaching path by working under Wayne Rooney at Derby County, when the Midlands side was in financial ruin, as well as taking interim charge of the club for a brief period.

That’s when Rosenior was given his first main gig at Hull City, and despite not having the budget of other teams around him, they narrowly missed out on a play-off spot in the English Championship, and then he was harshly booted out.

The following season, Hull would narrowly avoid relegation by goal difference, and it would prove the stellar job Rosenior was doing the season before.

But what is Hull’s loss is proving to be Strasbourg’s gain because, with a youthful side, they are challenging one of Europe’s best in PSG for France’s main crown.

Imagine what Rosenior would be able to do if handed the keys to Scotland’s most successful club?!
