Celtic’s lack of goals this season has not gone under the radar.
Brendan Rodgers is well aware that Celtic drawing with Rangers, Kairat Almaty and Hibs alongside failing to score in the 2-0 Europa League defeat to SC Braga is simply not good enough.
Selling top talents like Kyogo, Nicolas Kuhn and Adam Idah certainly doesn’t help, but Rodgers acknowledges that with the talent he has at his disposal in the Celtic first-team, the scoring record is not good enough.
And this is exactly the message the Celtic manager got across to his players just before the late win over Motherwell at the weekend.

Brendan Rodgers told his Celtic players to be ‘more aggressive’ in front of goal
Speaking before the match, Rodgers was asked about the lack of goals Celtic have scored this season and what he has done to try and fix it.
Rodgers told Celtic TV, “I think I had mentioned to the squad yesterday, I look at the talent that’s here then, of course, it’s a marker of everything that I think we need to be more aggressive in our game.
“When we haven’t got the ball, have more intensity in that way and then that will spread to our attacking game.
“And then obviously, when the chances come in, we have to score. Because it’s not just one or two games, it’s five games in 12, so we have to be better in that.”
That message clearly got through to his players as Celtic had three different goalscorers in the win against Motherwell.
Kelechi Iheanacho’s instant Celtic impact is proving doubters wrong
Kelechi Iheanacho’s signing by Celtic was viewed, in all honesty, with a certain degree of cynicism by many supporters.
And who can blame them? Limited minutes for Sevilla over the last two seasons meant that Celtic were getting a striker low in confidence, fitness and goals as a last ditch attempt to strengthen the Hoops forward line.
But now, with three goals in six games and unlucky not to score Celtic’s equaliser against SC Braga midweek, the Nigerian is certainly proving all his doubters wrong as he shows glimpses of the player that Rodgers had during his time at Leicester City.
