Luke Graham’s impressive displays have now been backed up by data and have proved that Celtic will need to move quickly if they want to secure his services.

Dundee are keen to keep Graham, who has attracted interest from other Scottish Premiership clubs, including the Hoops.

A centre-back is one of the positions that could do with improvement in and the Scotland U21 star fits that bill.

Luke Graham is one of the best young players in the Scottish Premiership

Graham’s standing as one of the top U23 performers in Scotland is fully justified. He sits among the top three central defenders, according to CIES, while logging 2,070 minutes over six months.

That level of exposure matters, especially when placed against players in similar conversations, including one who has managed just 305 minutes in the same period.

His performance against Celtic reinforced that point. He recorded 10 defensive contributions and 10 recoveries, while also winning seven ground duels.

That is not a player adjusting to the level, it is one already matching it through consistent defensive involvement. The internal view supports that, with Steven Pressley singing Graham’s praises and describing him as a standout across the season.

Celtic will have to move quickly to sign Luke Graham

As he improves with each week Graham’s market value rises. Dundee have already rejected a £1.5m bid, and the message from inside the club is clear.

Pressley has added that his ‘value grows by the game‘, reflecting a player whose price is being driven by ongoing performances rather than past reputation.

He has been described as comparable to Jarrad Branthwaite, which signals that there is a higher ceiling to reach.

Celtic are not dealing with a hidden opportunity, they are dealing with a player already being identified and valued across the market, but will they be first to it?
