Some Celtic fans may have been left with a slight tinge of déjà vu after Zenit St. Petersburg were linked with another of their top players.
The Scottish Sun recently linked the Russian champions with a £12million move for James Forrest. It’s the second time in a matter of months that Zenit have been reported to be in for one of the biggest stars at Celtic Park.

But Hoops fans shouldn’t fear too much. Their interest in Tom Rogic back in July came to nothing.
Zenit seem to have a thing for Celtic players
Sergei Semak’s side were reported to be ready to offer £9million for the Aussie’s services not so long ago. The Herald said that Rogic had come to the Russian’s attention after impressing against them in a Europa League tie back in 2018.

It was big news at the time but the trail went cold very quickly, and now it seems like Rogic is a stick-on to stay in Glasgow.
If they want to sign either player then they’ll have to raise the amount that was mentioned in each report. Forrest is a key man for Celtic both domestically and in Europe so a bid of £12million is unlikely to even come close.

The winger is 28-years-old so he wouldn’t have the same sell-on potential as Kieran Tierney – who recently moved to Arsenal for £25million. However, that would surely be negated by the fact that Forrest is perhaps our most important player at present.
With all that’s to come, we’d be foolish to consider anything below about £18million. That’s if the interest even comes to anything.
