Celtic fans have been reacting to the links to Motherwell star Elijah Just after his recent display at Parkhead.

Just opened the scoring for the Steelmen before Celtic recovered to win 3-1 at Parkhead last weekend and was one of the most impressive players.

Charlie Mulgrew was blown away by Just and the New Zealand international is one of many players that could join the Hoops this summer. We asked 67 Hail Hail fans what they thought of him on TalkingPoints and social media, which led to some differing opinions.

How Celtic fans feel about signing Elijah Just

While Just has been exceptional this season, there are question marks about whether the 25-year-old is a star in the making, or if he is just capitalising on a poorer Scottish Premiership across the board.

That’s something on the mind of Celtic fans, who are split down the middle on the idea of signing him.

One fan wrote: “Be careful a lot of these players look better this season because the standard has been so low.”

This person added: “If he wants success he knows where to go.”

Another fan wrote: “If Rangers2012 want him, let them sign him as he is almost certainly not good enough for us.”

Currently our midfield are lightweight, Just is 5’8″ had a decent game but don’t see that he would improve our midfield really. In the end we pressed Motherwell, could easily have scored 6-8 goals. Yet this was without 8 x regular first teamers in Schmeichel, Araujo, Trusty, CCV, McGregor, Engels, Johnston, Jota…I think Celtic deserve more praise.

How Elijah Just’s stats compare to Celtic players in his position

When you compare the 25-year-old to the other options Celtic have in his position, it is clear that he would be an upgrade on all of them, based on stats alone.

Aside from top scorer Benjamin Nygren, Just is outperforming everyone else he would be competing with for a spot in the Celtic starting XI.

Forget the likes of Michel-Ange Balikwisha and Joel Mvuka, who are nowhere to be seen, he is much better than regular starters like Daizen Maeda.

Is he the ideal type of signing to join in the summer?
