With Celtic out of action until next Saturday, attention has understandably turned to how the Hoops players fared on international duty.
Three Celtic players that were involved on Thursday in Nations League games didn’t find themselves on the winning team. But their performances can only benefit Celtic going forward.
Lets’ start with recent Celtic signing Shane Duffy. Duffy’s leadership qualities that he will bring to Celtic were shown as he was named as Ireland captain for their game with Bulgaria by manager Stephen Kenny.
Leadership qualities to the fore
The same qualities were brought to the fore as he headed home an injury time equaliser to give Ireland a precious point in a 1-1 draw.
Those never say day qualities shown by Duffy will serve him well as he starts his Hoops career. Now lets’ move on to Albian Ajeti.

The Hoops striker needs game time to get his fitness up. He got that for Switzerland, coming on in the 73rd minute of their 2-1 loss to Ukraine.
That might not have been the best result for Ajeti. However, it is yet more minutes that will help him get up to speed and ready to start a game for Celtic for the first time.
Two clean sheets in a row
Finally, we move on to Hoops goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas. Clean sheets can be a wonderful thing for goalkeepers, and Barkas kept one in Greece’s 0-0 draw with Slovenia. That is his second clean sheet in a row after Celtic’s recent 3-0 win over Motherwell.

The trio all have one more international game to navigate before they return to Celtic Park. However, their performances in the first games can only benefit their performances for country, and more importantly club, going forward.
Neil Lennon must have been pleased with the reports he no doubt received about the trio. The Celtic boss will be hoping desperately that the trio avoid injury for the rest of the international break before returning to Celtic Park.
In other news, some Celtic fans on social media are pleased that Tom Rogic might be staying with the club.
