Enough about Youssef Chermiti’s Glasgow derby goal, Celtic have scored a better one against Rangers

Even the most devout of Celtic fans can acknowledge that Youssef Chermiti’s bicycle kick was a good goal, but it’s not the greatest in a Glasgow derby as that accolade belongs to the Hoops.

Chermiti scored an overhead kick in the first half, as well as another, before Celtic fought back to draw 2-2 against Rangers.

Neutrals and those with Rangers-tinted glasses waxed lyrical and claimed it was the greatest goal scored in this long-standing fixture. However, Shunsuke Nakamura may have something to say about that.

Who scored the better goal against Rangers? 🤔

Was it Larsson's chip in 2000, or Nakamura's 40-yard screamer in 2008? Tell us below ⏬

Shunsuke Nakamura scored the best Glasgow derby goal

People will always say Henrik Larsson’s chip against Rangers in the 6-2 demolition back in 2000 is the best goal in a Celtic vs Rangers fixture, but they are forgetting Nakamura’s more recent effort back in 2008.

In eerily similar circumstances to what we are in right now, Celtic found themselves in a position where any dropped points would effectively kiss goodbye to the title.

The Hoops desperately needed a win to remain in the hunt and they managed to get an all-important 2-1 victory.

Nakamura was the hero of the day, unleashing a screamer from 40 yards that flew into the top corner.

Considering he was a set piece wizard, the winger’s ability to score goals like that would prove handy over the years and rescue Celtic on many occasions.

You are Martin O’Neill, what is the first change you would make for the cup game against Rangers?

Shunsuke Nakamura won Celtic the league that same season

Keen to see the title head nowhere else other than Parkhead, Nakamura went on a one-man mission to win the title for Celtic.

It all came down to the final season and the midfielder was gifted a free-kick in stoppage time on the final day of the season against Kilmarnock.

He held his nerve and found the bottom left to send the away supporters at Rugby Park into pandemonium and Gordon Strachan wheeling away down on the touchline.
