67 Hail Hail looks at five managers that are available who could be able to replace Brendan Rodgers immediately.

Rodgers resigned from the Celtic job on Monday night just over 24 hours after his side were beaten by Hearts at Tynecastle.

There appeared to be no love lost as Dermot Desmond attacked Rodgers in a damning statement, despite his unwavering success at Parkhead.

Shaun Maloney and Martin O’Neill will hold down the fort until a new replacement is found, and plenty of options are here.

With that, here are five candidates that Celtic could turn to.

Ange Postecoglou

Let’s start with the obvious candidate. A return to Celtic would be an emotional one for Ange Postecoglou and his third in quick succession.

Postecoglou was sacked by Nottingham Forest and has been tipped to return north of the border to a club where he is still adored by supporters.

In the past, Postecoglou has been coy about rejoining Celtic, but given how the Australian has fared at his last two clubs, heading back to somewhere which has provided him with so much joy in the past may be the perfect way to get his career back on track.

Mark van Bommel

Out of work since leaving Royal Antwerp, Mark van Bommel could be a left-field option.

The 48-year-old won a Treble and ended Antwerp’s 66-year wait to win the Belgian top flight in the 2022/23 season.

Van Bommel also worked with Michel-Ange Balikwisha, who has failed to hit the heights expected of him since his summer move and could be the man to help unlock his potential if he came to Celtic Park.

Xavi

Another option that many wouldn’t consider is Xavi.

He has been on the market since leaving Barcelona and as a disciple of Pep Guardiola’s famous side, is guaranteed to play attractive football.

His only previous experience was in Qatar, and the Spaniard may consider Celtic to be a step down.

Xavi did average 2.12 points per game at Barcelona, which is the sort of return that wins you trophies.

Raphael Wicky

Raphael Wicky was linked with the Rangers job before they opted to go for Danny Rohl instead and seems keen to return to management.

Wicky, 48, enjoyed endless success at Young Boys and made them a dominant force in Switzerland.

His previous links to Rangers may mean he isn’t a popular choice, but we know he is ready to return to management.

Marco Rose

Formerly of RB Leipzig, Marco Rose is a name that has been linked with the Hoops in the past.

While he has had mixed fortunes in his jobs, Rose has faced the pressure of managing in a top flight league at a club that demands success.

One concern is that the 49-year-old has never managed outside of Germany and Austria, but sometimes you need to take a risk.
