Joel Mvuka’s Kilmarnock omission raises concerns over Celtic’s deadline day arrival

Joel Mvuka was nowhere to be seen again in Celtic’s squad for the game against Kilmarnock.

After failing to impress in his 45-minute cameo against Dundee in the Scottish Cup, Mvuka hasn’t been named in the squad for the games against Livingston and Kilmarnock.

Martin O’Neill called for patience with Mvuka; however, the decision to sign a winger who had problems during his medical is already raising question marks.

Do you see Joel Mvuka as a starter or a backup option?

Joel Mvuka’s appearance record should have been a cause for concern

Reinforcements were needed out wide to provide extra competition for Daizen Maeda, Hyunjun Yang, Sebastian Tounekti and the others.

Celtic left it late and were originally going to sign Mvuka for £3m before changing the terms of the deal to be a loan with an option to buy.

The 23-year-old was signed with the idea of making an instant impact, and being up to scratch, but appearances show that he hasn’t been known for that.

Aside from his 47 in the 2021/22 campaign, Mvuka has struggled to make more than 30. Some of that may be to do with injury, but is hardly inspiring.

Joel Mvuka’s recent appearance record is uninspiring to say the least.

Why do you think we have seen so little of him?

Was Joel Mvuka a Martin O’Neill signing?

Five signings were made while the transfer window was open, most of them coming late on due to the change in manager.

O’Neill claimed that he had the final say on who joined, but if he was so keen on Mvuka, wouldn’t he be in the squad?

Like Benjamin Arthur, who some think will struggle to see a single minute of action, it seems like another questionable bit of recruitment.
