Kasper Dolberg’s decision to reject Celtic in favour of Ajax looked like a blow at the time. Less than a year later, Dolberg’s name is being pulled into Ajax’s recruitment problems.
Celtic missed out on Dolberg after the Danish striker chose Ajax instead. Few Celtic supporters could argue with Dolberg’s decision at the time considering his emotional pull to his former club.
However, the man who recruited Dolberg, Marijn Beuker, is now expected to leave Ajax, with talks under way to end his contract by mutual agreement.

Beuker is being held partly responsible for an Ajax summer rebuild worth almost €50 million with Dolberg named among the signings along with Oscar Gloukh, Raul Moro, Ko Itakura, Joeri Heerkens, Maarten Paes and James McConnell.
Dolberg is not the only player under scrutiny, but his name is now attached to a recruitment drive Ajax are trying to move on from.
Dolberg recorded three goals and three assists in the Eredivisie last season. For a striker who rejected Celtic to return to Ajax, those numbers have done little to silence the criticism.

Dolberg chose Ajax over Celtic, but transfer decisions can change fast. This one has become far more uncomfortable for Ajax than Celtic.
