Celtic’s pursuit of Kasper Dolberg appears to be over.

Reports this afternoon suggested Celtic were closing in on Dolberg after the Parkhead club were told to pay £10m for the striker.

Dolberg appeared for Anderlecht in their 2-0 defeat to Union Saint-Gilloise yesterday afternoon as Celtic struggled to beat a poor Rangers team at Ibrox.

However, an update from ESPN has delivered an update on Dolberg and it appears that it’s not good news for Celtic or the Hoops support.

Kasper Dolberg rejects Celtic as Ajax enter the fray

ESPN reports that Dolberg has decided to reject Celtic as the sports media station’s outlet in the Netherlands delivers an update.

ESPN took to X and said, “Ajax is fully committed to the return of Kasper Dolberg, striker rejects Celtic.”

This will be a crushing blow to Celtic and the supporters who were hoping that the Danish international would have come in to help bolster the attacking front line.

Where do Celtic go now after Kasper Dolberg?

The truth is, no one knows. It appeared that Dolberg was the top target on transfer deadline day and with Ajax entering the fray, this could now be a difficult move for Celtic to conclude this evening.

Sebastian Tounekti is on Celtic’s radar but the Hammarby player is a winger and not a striker.

With the hours slipping away quickly, Brendan Rodgers is running out of time to get in the striker Celtic so desperately need this summer.
