Celtic tried and failed to bring Kyogo Furuhashi back to the club in the January transfer window but, two months on, it seems like his decision to reject the move has worked in the club’s favour.
Martin O’Neill revealed a loan deal to bring Kyogo back wasn’t going to happen after speculation about a return to Parkhead did the rounds.
Life after Celtic hasn’t been kind to Kyogo on the football pitch, but the Bhoys can be glad that they played no part in it.

The 2026 transfer window is still months away, but what is the number one position Celtic need to improve this summer?📝
Tell us why you picked that position
Kyogo’s terrible form since failed Celtic move
After giving up on bringing the Hoops hero back to Paradise, Celtic chose to sign Tomas Cvancara and Junior Adamu.
Neither have hit the ground running but then again, Kyogo hasn’t.
The forward has managed three goals in all competitions this season, scoring once in each of the competitions he has played in.

Cvancara has scored more than that already and even held his nerve to score the winning spot-kick in the Scottish Cup victory against Rangers.
Now 31, the Japan international has evidently lost a yard of pace and his experiences with Rennes and Birmingham City seem to have sucked all of the confidence out of him.
Celtic should focus on finding the next Kyogo
85 goals in 136 games will be tough to replicate, but the future should be all about finding the next Kyogo.
Some of Celtic’s best strikers over the years have been players that weren’t exactly well known.
Has Tomas Cvancara done enough to convince you that he deserves a permanent contract?
Tell me why…
Cvancara and Adamu won’t be the answers based on what we have seen whereas someone like free-scoring Armando Gonzalez would be more of the mould that the Bhoys are looking for.
