Celtic summer signing Sead Haksabanovic showcased how big an asset he can be for Ange Postecoglou’s side against RB Leipzig on Tuesday evening.
The 23-year-old made his second start in the UEFA Champions League for the Hoops yesterday, following on from his first Scottish Premiership start against St Johnstone.
Similar to his appearance in Perth, Haksabanovic took his place in the starting line-up alongside Matt O’Riley and Reo Hatate in the Celtic midfield three.

When the former West Ham man arrived from Russian side Rubin Kazan in the summer, the expectation for his signing was that he would regularly find himself playing his part in the Celtic forward line.
Whilst the Celtic support was well aware that Haksabanovic could be deployed in several different positions on the pitch, including the midfield, we weren’t quite aware of how good his ability in that area would be.
However, across the last two games, on the domestic and European front, Ange Postecoglou’s summer signing has showcased how big of an asset he can be due to his versatility and quality in different positions.
Going up against some of Europe’s top talents in the RB Leipzig side, the Montenegro international looked unfazed and produced another good performance that left the Parkhead faithful impressed.
The Celtic manager now knows that he can turn to Haksabanovic and trust him to put in a solid display on the biggest of occasions, whether that be in the midfield or in wide areas.
For that reason, the signing of the versatile winger from Rubin Kazan could prove to be a fantastic piece of business at a brilliant price.

Haksabanovic’s quality could prove crucial in Celtic’s trophy hunt this season.
As we have already seen at this early stage of the season, members of Ange Postecoglou’s squad are bound to pick up injury knocks throughout the campaign.
So, it is so important that the former Socceroos boss can turn to different options within this Celtic dressing room.
And with a player like Haksabanovic, he now has an option who can be deployed in a number of positions whilst also still being able to produce the quality needed.
Celtic’s number nine has shown his ability to run at his marker and frighten opposition backlines with his pace. And in the last two games, he has also proven he has the ability on the ball and wants to take the necessary risks that are needed to play in Postecoglou’s system.
So, as the Bhoys go in the hunt for yet more trophy success this season, Haksabanovic is bound to be a big player across all competitions, and he is starting to show why that will be the case.
