Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has enjoyed having a strong squad to choose from as his side has embarked on an excellent start to the campaign.

With maximum points taken in the Scottish Premiership and one win from two in the Champions League, there has been plenty of positives to take for the Irishman at an early stage.

This weekend, Celtic face Aberdeen in a top-of-the-table league clash that is bound to generate anticipation around the country, with both sides having a clear run at seizing an advantage at the summit.

Brendan Rodgers’ men have the opportunity to crystalise their encouraging foundations with a statement victory on home soil, which would set the scene for an exciting run of Bhoys’ fixtures.

Saying that, who would you hang your hat on most for Celtic? 67 Hail Hail take a look at the strongest starting XI of the season to date.

The best Celtic XI of the season to date

Starting off between the sticks, it could only be Kasper Schmeichel based on the fact Viljami Sinisalo hasn’t made a competitive appearance for the club. The veteran Denmark international’s performances haven’t been bad either, with six clean sheets to his name since joining in the summer.

Expectedly, Alistair Johnston lines up on the right flank after his explosive displays on the right flank that have yielded two goals and three assists in ten appearances.

Every successful side needs two rocks at centre-back, so Liam Scales and Cameron Carter-Vickers enter the frame despite the latter’s fitness issues. Celtic have conceded just one goal in the Scottish Premiership this term and have the pair to thank for their solidity.

At left-back, Greg Taylor slots in as he continues to show his worth on the other side, whether that be by supporting the wingers or drifting into an inverted role in build-up.

Moving on to midfield, this is where it gets difficult. Callum McGregor lines up in his usual role as the club captain continues to be the lynchpin in the engine room. Scoring four stunning goals from outside the box have also helped his case, it is fair to say.

Belgium international Arne Engels is also worthy of a place following his excellent adaptation to life at Celtic Park after arriving from Augsburg. With that said, who takes the third slot beside them?

Some may find this controversial, but if consistency in performance is the main yardstick here, Paulo Bernardo just pips Reo Hatate. The Portugal Under-21 has shone whenever he has been asked to come in and has been unlucky not to start more, so he deserves some recognition.

Rounding off, Nicolas Kuhn and Daizen Maeda are fairly straightforward choices in the wide areas. Between them, 21 goal contributions have come to fruition. The pair appear to be in fine form under Brendan Rodgers and have been major influences on the Bhoys’ excellent season start.

Through the middle, Kyogo Furuhashi edges out Adam Idah despite both being locked on the same goal tally across all competitions. The Japanese striker stays out in front as he has been first-choice, and his general contribution to play has exemplified how to lead the line.

Your best XI of the season so far in full is: Schmeichel, Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Scales, Taylor, McGregor, Engels, Bernardo, Kuhn, Maeda, Furuhashi.
