The five point-plan to bring the good times back to Celtic

There is a lot to fix at Celtic, on and off the pitch.

Wilfried Nancy’s sacking has only amplified that as the Hoops came running back with their tail between their legs to ask Martin O’Neill to return until the end of the season.

Pressure on the Celtic board is at an all-time high with supporters doing everything they can to bring change about from top to bottom.

Change is needed and here at 67 Hail Hail, we have picked out five key components that help bring the good times back to Paradise.

The first thing I would do if I was on the Celtic board is – – – –

Modernise the infrastructure

Celtic is a club known globally due to its history and support in all seven continents, but its a side that acts like they are still stuck in the past.

The stadium needs work, the training ground could be redeveloped, the strategy at board level is outdated. We could go on.

A leap forward into the future is desperately needed with fresh ideas.

Put your money where your mouth is

Everyone knows that Celtic are sitting on a pile of cash that could be spent on so many things. So why not do it?

On the pitch, there are several positions that need upgrading. From the goalkeeper to a free-scoring striker, it is all quite obvious.

We’re told by the hierarchy that Celtic are ‘world class operators’. Let’s see them act like that then.

Treat supporters as fans, not customers

A lack of communication has been one of the main reasons behind the breakdown in relations between the supporters and board.

Football clubs don’t work like other businesses. The fans are the heartbeat of the team and are the 12th man.

All people want is open and honest communication from those who make the decisions at the top. That shouldn’t be hard to do.

Right now, Celtic fans are more disillusioned than ever and they need to feel valued and listened to, not ignored.

End the Green Brigade ban

Whether you like them or not, we can all agree that the Celtic Park atmosphere hasn’t been the same since the Green Brigade’s ban.

Seeing their section of the stadium empty while the Union Bears were present for the Glasgow derby was a real sucker punch.

Games like that usually have you fighting for your life to hear the person next to you but there have been points that you could hear a pin drop.

Getting the Green Brigade back in the stands is vital.

Let Martin O’Neill have a say in who replaces him

During the hiring process for Nancy, O’Neill was always keen to stress that he had no say in who replaced him.

In hindsight, they should have let him decide who would be best-suited to the role.

This time, when the season ends, let the Celtic legend help with the hiring process. He knows what it takes to succeed in Glasgow and will be able to pick out the perfect candidate.
