As Celtic supporters, the summer transfer window is always an exciting time.

Ange Postecoglou is preparing to go into his second campaign in charge at Parkhead and take his squad into the next phase of the club’s rebuild.

For that to happen, the 56-year-old will be looking to target quality new additions and the Hoops have already been linked with some exciting players.

However, it isn’t all just about the incomings. The former Socceroos boss also had some work to do when it comes to shipping out the deadwood at the club.

And so far, Postecoglou has made some impressive progress on getting the players who aren’t going to be part of his plans out, early in the transfer window.

The duo of Vasilis Barkas and Liam Scales have quickly been moved out on loan, and Christopher Jullien is expected to join them within the coming days.

Of course, there is still some work for the Celtic manager to do with the likes of Albian Ajeti, Boli Bolingoli and Ismaila Soro still at the club.

However, work is already underway to find these players a new home, particularly in Soro’s case after the midfielder was linked with a move to Serbian side Partizan Belgrade.

Early signs of more progress on the front of the outgoings appeared on the first day of pre-season training when none of the three players mentioned above were spotted at Lennoxtown.

So, the Celtic boss looks to have made it clear which players he wants to keep around as preparations get underway for the 2022/23 season.

These actions could also provide Postecoglou with a boost in the form of extra transfer funds, by getting some big earners such as Jullien and Ajeti off the wage bill.

I am sure we are likely to see more players head for the exit door within the next few months, and it is a move that is badly needed for all parties involved.

In other news, Path is now clear for Ange Postecoglou to make key Celtic squad addition.
