Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers will sit down for his press conference ahead of the Bhoys’ Premier Sports Cup semi-final against Aberdeen tomorrow at Hampden.

While the Bhoys kept up their domestic unbeaten run against Dundee in midweek, attention is now firmly on the task at hand in Glasgow’s southside that could propel the club into their first cup final of the season.

With Celtic and Aberdeen level on points in the Scottish Premiership, there is plenty of anticipation building as first meets second at Hampden, especially after their 2-2 draw last month on league duty.

Either way, there is plenty to be positive about for Brendan Rodgers, who has several selection dilemmas to wade through between now and tomorrow evening.

Without further ado, 67 Hail Hail pose the questions Celtic fans will want answered ahead of his press conference.

The availability of key Celtic stars will be a main concern

During the week, Rodgers said Celtic’s Nicolas Kuhn, Adam Idah, and Callum McGregor would all face Aberdeen after missing out on their victory over Dundee during the week.

Idah had been ruled out after Liam Gordon’s poor challenge on the Irishman left him in a moon boot. Meanwhile, McGregor and Kuhn were absent due to respective adductor and hip problems, but neither issue is believed to be too serious.

Nevertheless, just because someone is in the matchday squad, it doesn’t necessarily always mean they are fit enough to start.

Hopefully, the manager can offer a squad update that signifies the trio will be available from the start if needed. They could all be pivotal to claiming a result.

Brendan Rodgers’ thoughts on Celtic centre-half options

Forming the main topic of conversation in the lead-up to the semi-final, there are questions over whether Auston Trusty or Liam Scales will partner Cameron Carter-Vickers in central defence.

Looking at the formbook, it would be hard to leave Scales out amid his excellent start to the season. On the same token, Trusty has played a part in three consecutive clean sheets for the Bhoys, so there is definitely a debate to be had.

Ultimately, that decision falls with the manager, who will be keen to breed a feeling of continuity within the Celtic backline rather than tinkering too much with his selection.

Whoever starts the semi-final could create a chain effect, with potential for further starts if all goes to plan at Hampden.

Learnings from Celtic’s draw with Aberdeen last month

Admittedly, Celtic’s 2-2 draw with Aberdeen last month was one of the more peculiar matches Parkhead has paid witness to in recent years.

Despite the Dons coming back from a two-goal deficit, the Bhoys created more than enough chances to claim three points and were denied their chance to do so amid some late heroics from the visiting backline.

Rodgers will want his side to cement the fact they are the team to beat in Scotland, which comes with recognising where improvements can be made to avoid a repeat scenario.

The Irishman is a knock-out football specialist north of the border, so it will be intriguing to see what he has in mind to see off the Dons tomorrow evening.
