Celtic had the task of facing. and beating, Dundee last night without Hoops duo, Callum McGregor and Adam Idah.

McGregor was out of Celtic’s win over Motherwell after pulling out from the squad with an adductor injury.

However, Adam Idah sustained an injury at Fir Park after a horror tackle from Motherwell’s Liam Gordon and was said to be a doubt for last night’s win.

As Rodgers named his Celtic squad to face Dundee, the fans also noticed another name missing from the team sheet as Luis Palma stepped into the starting lineup and the Hoops boss has explained his much-changed team.

Brendan Rodgers explains Cameron Carter-Vickers’ Celtic start

Liam Scales dropped to the Celtic bench as Cameron Carter-Vickers started his first game since returning from injury as Rodgers explained why he made so many changes prior to facing Dundee.

Rodgers told the BBC, “There are some enforced changes within the squad, we’re looking to get Cameron Carter-Vickers some game time otherwise he’s not going to get back to his fitness levels.

“I trust the squad, there are players that aren’t really getting any sort of game time but they all have a great value. For some games, you just can’t make wholesale changes.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the team play, we’ve made six changes but it’s still a very strong team.”

Rodgers delivers injury update on Celtic trio Adam Idah, Callum McGregor and Nicholas Kuhn

With the League Cup semi-final against Aberdeen coming up in less than three days time, Celtic fans will be sweating at the prospect of the Hampden date without Idah, McGregor and Nicolas Kuhn.

Well, they need to worry no more after Brendan Rodgers delivered a class update just before Celtic beat Dundee.

Adam Idah, Nicolas Kuhn and Callum McGregor will all be fine for the weekend,” continued Rodgers.

“Callum could’ve been involved tonight but there was no need to risk it. Kuhn had a bit of an issue with his hip after the weekend, again no need to risk it.

“Good news on Adam with the scan, he got away with it after the challenge and hopefully he’ll be ready for Saturday.”

With the international break just over ten days away, Rodgers will be looking forward to resting much of his squad before Celtic’s hectic Christmas fixture schedule kicks in.

Celtic face Aberdeen (A), Hibs (H), Dinamo Zagreb (A), Dundee (A), Dundee United (A), Motherwell, (H) and St Johnstone (H) as Rodgers faces the prospect of six games in just four weeks.
