Celtic defeated Buckie Thistle 5-0 in the Scottish Cup fourth round today and they can take many positives from the Parkhead victory.
In their first home triumph of 2024, the Hoops steamrolled their opponents as expected in some rather hideous weather conditions.
Nevertheless, much credit must go to the travelling support, who made their way down to Glasgow in high spirits and enjoyed one of the greatest days in their club’s history
Brendan Rodgers complemented his side’s ruthless mentality against Highland League opposition, stating post-match [BBC Sport]: “It was good from both teams. The players continued where they left off before the break. The intensity was good. We scored some very good goals and just were offside in a few more.”
True to his word, Celtic were imperious without breaking their stride and will have a fifth round tie to look forward to in early February.
Of course, it is difficult to get too carried away given the level of opponent today; however, there is a major positive to take from the affair that can only bode well for the future.

Rocco Vata and Daniel Kelly’s contribution for Celtic
Celtic are often criticised for the lack of opportunities they present to academy players and undeniably, there is a dearth of talent being brought through at senior level right now.
Nevertheless, both Rocco Vata and Daniel Kelly appeared off the bench against Buckie Thistle and each had a telling contribution, with the former scoring his maiden goal for the club in the 76th minute and the latter making his debut in front of a healthy Parkhead crowd.
The pair helped to retain a high level of intensity in the second 45 minutes. Nevertheless, one of the more crystallizing factors of their involvement is the fact that they have successfully managed to step into the first-team after being regular fixtures for the Hoops’ B side under Stephen McManus and Darren O’Dea.
Whether they enjoy an extended run in matchday squads from now on is anyone’s guess; however, it is refreshing to see prodigious homegrown players contributing in green and white.
