The three biggest problems that are responsible for Celtic’s disappointing season

Add as preferred source on Google

Celtic’s season took another turn for the worse after they fell to defeat against Hibernian.

The 2-1 loss against Hibs means that they are six points adrift of Hearts in the Scottish Premiership table after they beat Falkirk.

Disciplinary issues are a huge concern for Martin O’Neill, but they aren’t the only ones as 67 Hail Hail try and dissect some of the biggest problems at Parkhead.

You are the Celtic manager. What do you change for the rest of the season? 🤨

Celtic’s mentality is as weak as it has ever been

Celtic have had various minor issues, but the one overriding one is their mentality.

Time and time again we have seen that when the going gets tough, Celtic go into hiding this season.

Losing to Kairat Almaty in the Champions League was bad enough but that has been followed up by dropping points numerous times in the SPFL and completely flopping in the Europa League.

These have all accumulated over time and each time the players walk off the pitch, their confidence looks shot and devoid of a side that genuinely think they can win the league.

Celtic’s right-back is the most attacking outlet

It is a real concern when the biggest threat on your pitch is playing as a right-back.

Julian Araujo is technically not Celtic’s player due to being on loan but has shown more fight, tenacity and desire than most of his teammates.

While the wingers take the ball to the byline before aimlessly punting a ball into the box, or failing to beat the man at all, Araujo is there to cause problems and create something.

Araujo’s run into the box with the ball against Stuttgart is exactly what the likes of Daizen Maeda and Sebastian Tounekti should be doing. Until that changes, how are the Hoops’ fortunes meant to improve?

Celtic have no leaders

Look through the squad and ask yourself the question: ‘Who is a leader?’

Callum McGregor wears the armband, but doesn’t possess the traits to be a genuine leader. You can’t imagine him barking orders at others, instead choosing to lead by playing well. That is up for debate after recent performances, though.

You can pick one Celtic player to replace Callum McGregor as captain..

Who are you picking❓

Cameron Carter-Vickers is injured but would maybe qualify as a candidate while Kasper Schmeichel also doesn’t have leadership traits suited to the Bhoys.

At this moment in time, Celtic have nobody who can grab the team by the scruff of their neck and get their teammates into shape. It can’t always be on O’Neill to do that and this needs to be resolved now, ideally, in the summer.
