Celtic’s mid-season preparations are about to heat up as Alistair Johnston gets set to join up with his new team-mates.

As per the club’s announcement of the signing, the exciting Canada international will meet his new colleagues “at the end of next week.”

With Yuki Kobayashi already at Lennoxtown, although unable to feature until January 1st, Celtic’s squad will have a fresh look when they return after the World Cup break.

Less than four weeks out from the January transfer window, this is what Ange Postecoglou’s updated squad depth picture looks like.

With rumours swirling about Josip Juranovic, we may see the right-back position become less cluttered in the coming weeks.

Elsewhere, it may be a case of finding loan moves for players who are unlikely to see much game time between January and May.

The likes of James McCarthy, Yosuke Ideguchi and Scott Bain may fit in to that category.

Overall, Celtic’s squad is strong, and we have virtually every player tied up on long-term deals.

There is immense competition in every area of the park, and virtually every player has the potential for improvement.

Now we just can’t wait to get back to seeing the team in action, starting with a trip to Aberdeen in less than a fortnight.
