We can all rejoice now that the international football is over and Celtic are returning this weekend.
No harm to those who enjoy seeing their countries play against others around the continent but the Bhoys are always the main event as far as I’m concerned and it’ll be fantastic to see the team back on the pitch.
Celtic were in electric form in that opening period of the season, securing five wins from five, scoring 15 goals and conceding just one.
It culminated in a crowd-pleasing, dominant derby victory over Rangers that has really set the team up well for a busy autumnal schedule.
Later, Brendan Rodgers will again be facing the media ahead of Saturday’s kick-off against Hearts and there’s plenty of information to get from the Bhoys boss.
Alistair Johnston’s status
It’s currently unclear whether Alistair Johnston is fit to face the Jam Tarts at Celtic Park after returning home from Canada duty early.
The right-back came off in the first half of a friendly against the United States. While Jesse Marsch suggested this was more of a precaution than a serious problem, we’ve yet to hear official word from the Bhoys on his status.

Even if there is no major issue, any problem with his hamstring at all means it’s unlikely he’ll feature. Saving him for the Champions League clash next Wednesday night would be the smart move with Anthony Ralston able to fill in this weekend.
It’ll also be interesting to see if the manager is asked about reports of contract talks with the right-back.
What’s in store for Celtic’s central defence
The manager won’t be giving away his teamsheet but there may well be questions about how he sees his centre-back options heading into this critical run of games.
Liam Scales is currently in the team on merit after a strong start to the season alongside Cameron Carter-Vickers but with Auston Trusty arriving for a sizable £6m transfer fee, the prospect of a new partner is looming.
It’d be good to clear up the status of Carter-Vickers too after he left the recent derby in a protective boot, also missing United States national team duty. He’s not thought to be seriously injured but confirmation of that would be nice.
How does Rodgers see his options and will he give a hint we’ll soon see a Trusty debut?

Arne Engels’ first start
Again, Rodgers is unlikely to want to change a settled, high-performing team but Arne Engels is the club’s record signing and you wouldn’t imagine he’ll be sitting on the bench for too long.
Paulo Bernardo was excellent in the first half against Rangers so it would be harsh to drop him but will we get a heads up on a potential first start for Engels from the manager later?
He appeared as a substitute in the derby but everyone is eager to see how he can impact a match from the start and this weekend’s fixture looks like a good full introduction to Scottish football for him in advance of the Champions League starting.
