With Callum McGregor set to miss Celtic’s game against Motherwell this weekend, 67 Hail Hail looks at three players who could take the armband in his absence.
McGregor is expected to be out for some time and Martin O’Neill will have to decide who will lead out the side at Celtic Park for the Scottish Premiership clash.
There are three standout candidates for this role, but do you agree?
You can pick one Celtic player to replace Callum McGregor as captain..
Who are you picking❓
Liam Scales
Liam Scales was the skipper for the Hoops’ Scottish Cup penalty shootout win against Rangers and led by example.
Scales is one of the club’s more senior and longest-serving players, making him a figure that others look up to.
Unless injured, the Republic of Ireland international starts every game, therefore it makes perfect sense to let him keep the armband.
Kieran Tierney
O’Neill is hopeful that Kieran Tierney will be fit to play this weekend, and he would probably be the fans’ first choice to take the armband.
Tierney has captained Celtic on a few occasions in the past so he knows how to handle the weight of the armband.

Like Scales, he is popular, has been in the situation before and you can always rely on him to be among the best players on the pitch.
Luke McCowan
Our final option is the most left-field option, but does make sense.
Luke McCowan was the captain for Dundee, so has experience of leading a team, especially in games where things are riding on the line.
Crucially, McCowan is also a Celtic fan, so will have seen how McGregor, Scott Brown, and others have managed to galvanise their teammates.
He is the least likely of the three as he may not necessarily start at Parkhead. However, he is a viable option.
