The dust is still settling from Brendan Rodgers’ sudden departure on Monday evening.
Everyone knew that Rodgers was unhappy with the Celtic board, but not many saw his exit come as quickly as it did, and that in the form of a resignation.
With Rodgers out of the door, who are the winners and losers from the Irishman leaving Parkhead? 67 Hail Hail takes a look.

The three winners from Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic exit
One of the main gripes Rodgers had with the board was how the striker situation was dealt with in 2025.
Shin Yamada was signed in the summer from the J-League, but he spent more time at home than on the bench, with the suggestion that he was a ‘club signing.’
| Games | Starts | Off the bench | Not in the matchday squad | Goals | Assists | Total minutes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 6 | 1 | 5 | 5 | – | – | 177 |
But with Rodgers out of the door, could Yamada benefit from all of this because his game time might just increase in the coming weeks and months.
- The Celtic board, led by Dermot Desmond
Let’s be honest, they have got what they wanted, and that’s Rodgers out of the door. Still no responsibility from the likes of Desmond, Michael Nicholson and Peter Lawwell.
And the man who was calling them out for it has just resigned, so they will be smiling somewhere in the corner.
- Next Celtic manager
Whilst Celtic are in a mess right now, they are still the champions of Scotland, one of the biggest clubs in the world, and if you do well in the iconic green and white colours, it makes you famous.
So, whoever comes in, they will be fortunate to take the reins from Rodgers, who won an incredible 11 trophies over his two spells as manager.

- Celtic fans
At the end of the day, all this chaos at Celtic affects the fans the most because they are the ones who put their hard-earned money into the club, only for people in power to take advantage.
That’s one of many reasons why there have been protests against the Celtic board, and they will continue.
The reason Celtic’s number one goalkeeper is on this list is because of his up-and-down form.
Celtic legend Pat Bonner recently suggested that Viljami Sinisalo should replace Schmeichel in between the sticks, and it’s a feeling many fans agree with.
If Schmeichel continues with those mixed performances, then the new man in the Celtic Park dugout might just bring in Sinisalo and put Schmeichel on the bench.
Another player who has been underperforming, and another player who is lucky to be starting on a regular basis.
Now that Rodgers has left, perhaps that will change, and the new manager will wield the axe a lot more because some of these senior players need it, especially Reo Hatate.
Everyone knows Hatate is magic on his day, but those days are now few and far between.
