It’s clear that some Celtic fans have been left concerned with the prospect of Eddie Howe taking the Tottenham Hotspur job today.
Indeed, Jose Mourinho was officially sacked by the London club after a disappointing spell in charge. Tottenham currently sit seventh in the Premier League table and are under scrutiny from supporters after becoming one of the founding members of the European Super League.
Howe has been consistently linked with the Celtic job, with the latest from his agent claiming he wasn’t close to joining anyone [Daily Mail]. And with the Tottenham job now available, some fans have outlined concerns that Spurs could make their move for the former Bournemouth man:

This has been a concern that’s been widely acknowledged on social media. Some fans appear to be extremely concerned that Howe will stay down south and sign on to work Daniel Levy in North London.
But it’s vital we take a step back and actually analyse the situation. Just look at some of the names available to Tottenham early on.
Eddie Howe to Tottenham Hotspur feels like a massive stretch
The Evening Standard has stated the likes of in-demand Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann and Massimiliano Allegri as two of the bookies’ contenders. The likes of Brendan Rodgers, Rafa Benitez, and Diego Simeone are also in the frame.
Not to undermine the potential new Celtic manager, but that’s a wealth of talent available to Spurs. A plethora of names with a bigger, more attractive, and richer CV than what Howe can offer Tottenham.

Considering the last thing he did at Bournemouth was get them relegated, that counts down there. We know how well a job he did over the piece with the Championship side, but it’s important to acknowledge his relegation won’t be looked upon favourably by the biggest clubs in England. It’s not common you see a manager who recently got relegated down south take one of the top gigs in the Premier League.
Spurs will likely feel they can attract a top-end manager. It’s why they plumped for Mourinho in the first place. They know they operate at a level where they can attract these kinds of names.
If we’re going to worry about Spurs, we might as well worry about every single managerial gig that opens up. Why stop at Tottenham?
There’s little to suggest Spurs will go for the Celtic target. It’s just a link that’s been thrown out from nowhere and is now concerning some in our support. But given Spurs’ recent history and the fact they’re eyeing up being an elite European club – Howe is hardly likely to be the first name on their list.
In other news, the English fans are suddenly pining for Celtic to join the Premier League.
