Wilfried Nancy did one thing right at Celtic, and that’s sign Julian Araujo

Wilfried Nancy’s reign at Celtic will go down as one of the worst in the club’s history.

Those 33 days in charge for Nancy produced nothing but chaos, confusion and abject performances on top of abject performances.

Everything and anything went wrong under Nancy, but there is one thing that he did right, just before he left, and that’s bringing Julian Araujo to Celtic.

Araujo made his debut against Rangers at Parkhead at the start of January, and before he could recover, Nancy was out the door, but that hasn’t stopped the right-back from shining.

When Alistair Johnston returns to fitness, would you pick him over Julian Araujo?

Thank you, Wilfried Nancy, for signing Julian Araujo

What’s interesting is that Araujo was initially signed to play as a right-sided wing-back, and in truth, if you watch him play, you can see that he would suit that role because he has the stamina and attacking quality.

But his overall performances at right-back have been outstanding, and it has resulted in many Celtic supporters warming to the player.

Of course, it was topped off by Araujo’s winner against Kilmarnock on Sunday, as Martin O’Neill’s side, for the third game running, scored a stoppage-time goal to their benefit.

Nancy will be remembered for all the wrong reasons at Celtic, but at least one thing he did right was sign Araujo, because he could prove to be pivotal in who wins Scotland’s Premiership title.

What a line-up this is? Would that have been possible?

What changes would you make?

Araujo’s numbers for Celtic so far

Araujo is on loan at Celtic from Bournemouth, and he is expected to return to the English Premier League side in the summer.

For most of this campaign, Celtic have been without Alistair Johnston, and it looks like if he returns, then it will be towards the back end of the campaign.

Either way, he is Celtic’s starting right-back, but could it be argued, going by the performances Araujo is producing so far, that he should be signed up for good next term?

Because the Mexico international is certainly making a case for it.
