A midfielder seems to be becoming more and more important in Celtic’s recruitment plan.

Celtic drew 2-2 with Hearts at the weekend and struggled to dominate the midfield battle at Tynecastle.

The Hoops are too one-dimensional in the middle of the park and are therefore looking at possible targets to bring in.

Brann star Felix Horn Myhre has been linked with Celtic but they are likely to face competition from Brondby for his signature.

Horn Myhre has been linked with a move away before, which led to some tense moments with his current club’s supporters.

Felix Horn Myhre had to apologise about wanting to leave

The 26-year-old has a wealth of experience already and made almost 300 appearances at a senior level and is their current vice-captain.

Despite becoming a key player for Brann, he threatened to ruin his relationship with the club when he publicly announced that he wanted to join domestic rivals Bodo/Glimt.

Elche were also interested but no move materialised and in the end, he came out and said sorry to supporters for letting them down.

He said: “It has been a little more chaotic than I had imagined. There have been more reactions than I had expected. I regret that.

“It didn’t end well. At the same time, I stand behind what was said. I didn’t say anything negative about Brann at all.

“Maybe the way I spoke out in the media wasn’t so clever. I can apologise for that, absolutely.”

What type of midfielder is Felix Horn Myhre?

What the Hoops evidently need is a ball-winning midfielder who can dominate the middle of the park and allow the more creative players to flourish further forward.

Horn Myhre is regarded as a throwback style of midfielder who likes to make deep runs into the box when joining the attack.

Poll: Which position do Celtic need to strengthen in the 2026 January transfer window?

He is capable of playing as a number eight or in a double-pivot role, pressing high to win the ball back and make short, beneficial passes to keep possession instead of Hollywood passes.

That box-to-box style is something this team are craving and could add a new dimension to the side.
