Celtic begin their 2025/26 season against St Mirren.
After winning the Scottish Premiership last time, Celtic became the most decorated club in Scotland and now sit on 55 league titles.
St Mirren were actually the side that Celtic faced on the final day of last season where James Forrest scored for the 16th season running.
Brendan Rodgers’ side have enjoyed a strong record against the Buddies in the past but when it comes to their biggest win on the opening day of the season, we have to go back to 1998.

Craig Burley bags hat trick in five-star Dunfermline win
The start of the 1998/99 season saw Celtic hammer Dunfermline in convincing fashion as Craig Burley stole the headlines.
Burley scored a hat trick as Simon Donnelly and Malky Mackay also chipped in as the Hoops ran riot in front of a packed-out Celtic Park.
It could’ve easily been more on the day as well as Harald Brattbakk missed a series of chances in front of goal but there were hopes that it would set the tone to make it a season to remember.
Celtic’s 1998/99 season ended in disappointment
Despite Henrik Larsson’s 38 goals in all competitions, the Hoops went trophyless at the end of the season.
Under Jozef Vengelos, Celtic finished six points behind Rangers and lost the Scottish Cup final to their Glasgow derby rivals.
An embarrassing third round loss to Airdrieonians in the Scottish League Cup also followed.
Their European adventure didn’t go much better after being beaten by Swiss outfit FC Zurich in the second round.
