Borussia Dortmund hero Kevin Grosskreutz once admitted that he has a bit of a soft spot for Celtic.
There are plenty of celebrities around the world who support Celtic, and a number of past and current footballers do too.
The likes of Andy Robertson and John McGinn have all publicly confessed their love for the Hoops and they both hope to one day play for the club before they hang up their boots.
Dortmund and Celtic have a lot in common as they both sing You’ll Never Walk Alone before games so there are similarities there and for Grosskreutz, there is love for both teams.
Kevin Grosskreutz explains why he is a Celtic fan
Grosskreutz was once linked with a move to Celtic by BILD, but a transfer never came about.
It would’ve been a dream move for the full-back, who admitted in 2014 that he is a huge fan of Celtic.
Speaking to the Scotsman in 2014, he said: “When I was in Glasgow a while ago, I went into a Celtic pub. The people started singing my name. I will never forget that.
“There is a connection between Celtic and Dortmund supporters.”
His whole family are also Celtic fans, and now that he is semi-retired, he has more time to return to Parkhead.
Kevin Grosskreutz isn’t the only Celtic and Dortmund connection
Celtic and Dortmund have plenty of little connections over the years, and none bigger than Paul Lambert.
Known as one of the greats on both sides, Lambert helped Dortmund win the Champions League in 1997, and then went on to join the Bhoys that following summer.
He was a key part of the Martin O’Neill era and starred in the side that reached the UEFA Cup final.
They last faced each other in the 2024/25 season when Dortmund beat Celtic 7-1 at Signal Iduna Park.
