Celtic look to be closing in on the signing of West Ham striker Albian Ajeti after he landed in Glasgow to finalise terms and take part in a medical, The Daily Record reports.

The paper say he will now be given a tour of Celtic Park and our Lennoxtown training facility ahead of a potential £5m switch.

It’s unknown what structure this will take. It could be an outright permanent deal or a loan-to-buy effort. Both have been reported over the last few weeks.

Regardless, it looks to be an exciting signing and follows the confirmed news today that forward Vakoun Bayo has left the Bhoys to join Ligue 2 side Toulouse on a season-long loan.

Ajeti scored 43 goals and assisted 21 more in 96 appearances for Swiss side Basel prior to his move to the Premier League, gaining experience in the Champions League and international caps for his country (Transfermarkt).

The ten-cap man didn’t make progress in London, making just 12 appearances in total (Transfermarkt), many of which were from the bench.

When a new signing is made it’s always interesting to check out the perception of the player amongst fans of the selling club and as Ajeti was British-based, at a well-supported side, there’s plenty of opinions out there.

Given he never really had a role to play at the club, plenty of West Ham fans are supportive of the deal, looking forward to getting a transfer fee for the striker.

There’s also some who believe he never really got a fair shake in the side, feeling that the player should have been given more opportunities to impress.

Others reckon he will now score plenty in Scotland and make a real impact at the champions.

These West Ham fans have taken to Twitter today to share their thoughts on it all, after it became apparent the move is on…
