Celtic’s pursuit of a striker has been going on since January.
When Kyogo Furuhashi left Celtic for Rennes in the winter transfer window, Brendan Rodgers had been searching for an adequate replacement for the Japanese striker.
The Celtic boss has been speaking about Celtic strengthening the forward line for what seems like an age now and has, so far, added Shin Yamada and Michel-Ange Balikwisha.
But it appears that Rodgers could have had the answer right under his nose after a striker he allowed to leave in July 2024 is now on the verge of a huge £24m move to the Bundesliga.

Ex-Celtic striker Hyeongyu Oh set for £24m from Genk to the Bundesliga
Hyeongyu Oh was brought to Celtic by Ange Postecoglou in January 2023 as back-up for Kyogo Furuhashi.
In 47 games, many from the Celtic bench, Oh scored 12 goals in his 18-month spell at Celtic.
But as Kyogo’s form kept the South Korean out of the team, Rodgers decided to allow Oh to leave Celtic for Genk.
And now, Sacha Tavolieri has revealed that the 24-year-old striker is set to leave Genk for VfB Stuttgart on transfer deadline day.
Tavolieri said on X, “VFB Stuttgart set to complete Oh Hyeon-gyu move!
“KRC Genk and VfB are now in advanced talks for a deal worth €28M.
“Oh’s already on the road in order to complete a 5 years move.”
It’s an incredible move for the former Celtic striker who was never really given a real chance to show what he could do at the Parkhead club.
How ex-Celtic man Hyeongyu Oh earned his £24m move to VfB Stuttgart
Oh was a hit with the Genk supporters in the solitary season he played for the Belgian club.
In 47 appearances for Genk, the striker scored 14 goals and provided four assists after his move from Celtic in July 2024.
Ironically, the man who came in to take Oh’s place in the Celtic team, Adam Idah, is now set to leave the club today in a move that will see Celtic recoup around £6m of the £8.5m paid last summer.
It’s an incredible move for the striker and one that no one saw coming at all, never mind this summer.
