Celtic prospect Adam Montgomery has confirmed his loan move back to St Johnstone until the end of the season, the club announced on social media today.
Montgomery has been in Perth working under Callum Davidson throughout 2022/23 but returned to Celtic last week for some training with Ange Postecoglou’s first-team squad.
After that assessment, it’s been determined that the left-sided 20-year-old will head back to McDiarmid Park for more exposure to Scottish Premiership football.

Davidson praised Montgomery’s progress last month, telling The Courier: “Adam has performed well, which I’m really pleased about. He’s got better and better.
“I’ve spoken to John (Celtic assistant manager, John Kennedy). They’ve been happy and just let us get on with it, really. He’s played games. We’d have had more phone calls if he hadn’t been playing.
“Adam’s managed to pick himself for the team because of his performances. It’s not me playing him because he’s a Celtic player. His attitude in training and around the place has been first class. The young man has got a big future. Hopefully, he’ll go far.”
It makes sense that, with all parties satisfied, Montgomery continues in an environment he is enjoying and improving in.
Davidson’s side have a good chance to make it into the top six of the table this season having so far managed to keep distance between themselves and any relegation drama.
With 17 appearances under his belt already, we can look forward to seeing what he can do between now and May, building on the 20 times he has played for Celtic.
