Ange Postecoglou wasn’t in the mood for transfer rumours at today’s Celtic media conference, brushing off questions about the links to South Korean striker Cho Gue-sung in particular.
The Bhoys have been widely reported to have submitted a bid to Jeonbuk for the international forward but other teams are also keen on his services.
Asked about the player today, Postecoglou didn’t give specific thoughts about that situation but discussed the more general trend of Celtic transfer reports.

The Celtic boss said: “I’m not sure who’s linking us, so I don’t really know. I’m not across it all the time but Iain (Jamieson, Celtic PR) keeps me abreast. I reckon about 10% of what’s out there at the moment is anywhere close to the truth.
“That’s not because I think people are being deliberately misleading. They get a bit of information from their cousin’s barber’s neighbour and it becomes Celtic are linked to a certain player.
“From my perspective, I don’t stress about that stuff. When we’re ready to do business, people have seen in the past we do it. We don’t do it in the media, we don’t do it through speculation, we don’t do it through being linked. It’s pretty straightforward. If there’s an opportunity there and we feel really good about it we’ll move quickly and get it done.”
Celtic have acted sharply in the transfer market in recent windows, particularly since the Australian’s arrival, so I don’t we’ll be getting anything out of him until there is confidence a deal will be struck.
Cho looks to be of the calibre and profile that’d make for an exciting Bhoys signing, but it’s very much a deal that appears up in the air with multiple options opening for the World Cup performer.
Postecoglou is making it clear he won’t be led by rumours and reports.
In other news, Hampden Park primed for another immense Celtic turnout; brilliant television move rewarded.
