Ange Postecoglou is hopeful that Celtic can widen its horizons when searching for players to sign in the transfer market.
Postecoglou, as you know, has spent his entire coaching career in Australia and Asia, giving the Bhoys a new perspective on football in other parts of the world.
In Japan, he also successfully utilised South American players in his Yokohama F.Marinos team.
It’s something he thinks the Bhoys can replicate this summer and beyond.
Speaking to The Glasgow Times, he said: “Again, working on that side of the world you had to be fairly open-minded about where we took players from. There is some fantastic talent in Asia, there is some fantastic talent in South America. Most definitely that is one of the areas that I want to focus on.
“But I think what will make it a good bit easier for the people working in those areas is the fact that we will have an identity and a clear idea of what kind of football we are trying to play and that narrows it down.
“We will search far and wide, but again those are the kind of challenges we have. If you are talking about bringing a player from far and wide like South America or Asia there are quarantine restrictions with covid. It’s not just about flying in a player. It has taken me what feels like an eternity to get here so all those things are what we are talking about and what we need to look at.”
Celtic can benefit greatly from Ange Postecoglou using new markets
For me these are promising comments. Following on from other answers on transfer matters, such as the timing of incoming signings and the current gaps in the squad, Postecoglou is here to do business quickly.

Using new, largely untapped markets from our perspective could be huge, if done correctly. Increasingly it’s harder to find value in Scotland, England and the rest of Europe.
With the right scouting and eye for talent, why shouldn’t we look further afield? A man like Postecoglou can certainly help with the culture shock.
Celtic shouldn’t be afraid of new ways of thinking. In fact, it should be encouraged to help us find more success in every department of the club.
In other news, Celtic ‘fan media’ isn’t going anywhere – in fact, it’s getting bigger and better.
