Benjamin Arthur has spoken for the first time after Celtic have confirmed the arrival of the youngster.

Arthur has signed on loan from Brentford until the end of the season but has little experience in senior football.

Predominantly a centre-back, the 20-year-old offers cover in a position that Martin O’Neill desperately needed reinforcements in.

Options were light, leading to Stephen Welsh being recalled from his spell at Motherwell and question marks will be asked about whether the former Peterborough United youngster is ready to make the step up with the Hoops.

However, the promising starlet is looking forward to showing Celtic fans what he is made of.

Benjamin Arthur on why he joined Celtic

At Celtic, the youngster could get the chance to really make a name for himself in the professional game after only playing in cup games for Brentford.

However, he is well aware of the challenge and knows he is at one of the best clubs in the world.

He told Celtic TV: “I am really honoured and happy to be joining Celtic. It is one of the world’s biggest clubs, so it’s a really exciting move for me.

“I know we have a quality squad with guys who have won so much already, and I can’t wait to join them and hopefully play my part in bringing more success to the club and to our fans.

“We have a lot of challenges ahead and I am ready for them and ready to do all I can to help the club achieve all it can.”
