Celtic have officially announced the record signing of Arne Engels from German club Augsburg.
Engels is reported to have joined for a huge £11m fee, with the Bundesliga outfit retaining a 20% sell-on clause should the Bhoys make a profit on his sale down the line.
The Belgian, who was called up to his national team earlier today, has signed up on a four-year deal until the summer of 2028.
Understandably Bhoys boss Brendan Rodgers is thrilled to finally put the finishing touches to his move.
Brendan Rodgers on Arne Engels signing
The manager told the club’s official website: “We are delighted to bring Arne to Celtic. He is an exciting young player of real quality who has already made his mark at a really high level in the Bundesliga.
“He has a wide range of attributes which will allow him to play a number of positions in midfield, so we feel he is an excellent acquisition for the club. I think Arne’s style of play, his energy and his technical ability really will suit our game model.
“While Celtic will always be our priority, it is fantastic too that Arne is now receiving full international recognition within a top Belgian squad, something he is very deserving of.”

Engels ready to make Celtic impact
Brendan Rodgers indicated earlier on Friday that the new Bhoys signing could be involved in some capacity against Rangers on Sunday. It’d be fantastic to see him make a derby debut, even if only off the bench.
The 20-year-old has been starting games for Augsburg throughout pre-season and into competitive action so he should have the match sharpness.
He’ll be desperate to hit the ground running and live up to his price tag early, although like Matt O’Riley, his best form will likely come down the line after a period of adjustment.
