Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou is hoping Mikey Johnston can find a loan move in the closing stages of the summer transfer window so everyone can see his “outstanding talent” playing regularly.

Johnston is struggling to get any game time at the Bhoys right now, with reports indicating Sead Haksabanovic will be a further addition to the manager’s squad for the coming season.

Postecoglou was asked about any outgoing deals at his press conference today, telling reporters [YouTube]: “It’s about trying to find opportunities for these guys to play, if they’re not going to get opportunities here.

“It has to be driven by themselves as well – if they want to find somewhere to get more opportunities, we’ll certainly help in that regard. There are still ten days or so open in the transfer window.

“Particularly around, say Mikey Johnston. I’m really keen for him to get some game time. I think Mikey is an outstanding talent, he just hasn’t been able to get a good run of games.

“I think in a different environment where he can I think he can start realising the potential we know he has. He’s training well, they’re all training, if opportunities arise over the next 10 days for players, we’ll definitely look at it.”

A loan is definitely best for Johnston at this point, with little chance of many substitute appearances never mind regular starts.

It seems the Celtic attackers ahead of him are just a level above what he is offering in training at the moment and Postecoglou wants to see what he can produce with the confidence of regular football behind him.

Hopefully there is interest, otherwise it could be another frustrating few months for him on the sidelines, especially if the Haksabanovic deal goes through.
