Brendan Rodgers isn’t worried about losing Matt O’Riley in the January transfer window despite recent reports.
Sky Sports have stated that Inter Milan are one of several clubs who have scouted the midfielder in recent UEFA Champions League games.
It’s said they are considering making a move for the Bhoys star in the January transfer window on a loan basis, with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.
However, Rodgers is not perturbed by the interest and reckons it’s a natural eventuality given the player’s form in recent months.
Brendan Rodgers on Matt O’Riley transfer interest
The Celtic boss said [Daily Record]: “I don’t have any fears over any of the players. I’m delighted for Matt, he’s made a fantastic step forward this season as a Celtic player and in his career. That shows the focus and mentality from training he’s taking into games.
“He will always attract the interest of teams. But I don’t have any fear, he’s a good guy who works very, very hard. When you do that, you’re always going to have interest.”
It seems very unlikely that Celtic will look to sell any of their top players in the winter window.
Traditionally the Bhoys have made their biggest sales in the summer months and it’s thought the club are looking for a record fee for O’Riley.

It would be crazy to say goodbye to one of our top performers so far this term while the team is chasing trophies and qualification for next season’s Champions League, which is worth a significant amount of money itself.
Celtic can’t help clubs being interested in their players but there’s always an optimum time to sell and, when it comes to O’Riley, next month isn’t it – especially since he could be heading to Euro 2024 next summer.
