Celtic are weighing up a January transfer move for midfielder Romeo Amane.

Brendan Rodgers is on the search for new additions to his squad after an underwhelming summer transfer window and BK Hacken star Amane’s name is high up on the list.

Football Scotland reports that Amane was initially identified by lower-level scouts within the Celtic set-up and that he has now been watched by more senior figures.

It’s stated that Bhoys scouts took in Hacken’s recent Europa League match away to Qarabag. He is now said to be a ‘serious option’ for Rodgers and the recruitment staff, with the Swedish side looking for around £3m for his services.

Where Romeo Amane would fit into Celtic

FotMob’s profile of the 20-year-old suggests he is a creative and attack-minded midfielder, ranking highly when it comes to chances created by central midfielders in similar leagues.

He would be a competitor for one of the two central spots in front of Celtic’s sitting ‘number six’ midfielder alongside current Bhoys stars such as Matt O’Riley and Reo Hatate.

The Ivorian has netted three goals and provided three assists in 23 matches for Hacken this season and featured in all six of their Europa League group stage matches.

However, Amane’s club did finish rock bottom of their group with a shocking zero points up against Leverkusen, Qarabag and Molde.

With David Turnbull’s future in doubt due to an expiring contract, Celtic do need to consider bringing in attack-minded midfielders next month.

Odin Thiago Holm and Paulo Bernardo have potential but haven’t yet established themselves as regular starts under Rodgers.

Apparently, the scouting staff see something in Amane and he’ll now be a name to track over the coming weeks
