Celtic’s struggles in front of goal this season have been painful viewing, with the current attacking options regularly failing to showcase any real quality and find any real consistency.
The problems up top have only grown wider and more frustrating following the disastrous January loan signings, and this is after a 2025 summer transfer window that played a part in Brendan Rodgers leaving Celtic in October.
Peter Grant has previously criticised the decision to sell Adam Idah to Swansea City.
The former midfielder firmly believes Idah would be faring significantly better than the forwards currently at Parkhead, including a certain Daizen Maeda, declaring how many goals he would have scored: “Adam Idah should never [have been sold].
“I tell you what, if Adam Idah was here this season, he would have had 20 goals after the poor start to the season he had.”

Peter Grant says Adam Idah would have 20 goals at Celtic by now
It is a statement from Grant that would ignite a huge debate amongst the Celtic Park faithful.
Before departing for Wales, Idah heavily divided opinion among the supporters. Despite his knack for stepping up in massive moments, a vocal section of the fanbase remained unconvinced by his all-around game.
But one man who always had his back was Grant, and he repeated on Go Radio that he would have sold Maeda over the Irishman.
“Adam Idah should never (have been sold),” said Grant. “Correct me if I am wrong. When I was on this programme after it happened, I said, ‘I would have sold Maeda before Adam Idah. 100%.’
“I tell you what, if Adam Idah was here this season, he would have had 20 goals after the poor start to the season he had.
“But for the amount of games now, he would have had 20 goals at least this season.”

Looking back at Idah’s contributions, compared to the minutes he played and starts he was handed, you have to ask: Was he ultimately disrespected?
When you look at Celtic’s current lack of firepower, Grant’s 20-goal claim doesn’t actually seem far-fetched.
