Celtic fans were quick to drive Adam Idah out the door last summer, but looking at the club’s current striker mess, that collective impatience is ageing terribly.
Parkhead is currently relying on the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho, Junior Adamu, and Tomas Cvancara – a trio that has completely failed to produce the goods and has dropped the levels since Idah’s departure to Swansea City.
Yes, Idah had areas of his game that needed refinement, and fans understandably wanted more consistency.
However, a quick look at his limited minutes on the pitch proves he was criminally underused rather than an outright failure at Celtic.
| Games | Starts | 90+ minutes played | Goals | Assists | Total minutes |
| 76 | 35 | 4 | 29 | 3 | 3,420 |
All of these came under Brendan Rodgers, the man who first loaned him from Norwich City and then signed him on a permanent basis.
Idah was in Celtic colours at the start of the season, but left before things could become worse, and they have become much, much worse.
Would you take Adam Idah back at Celtic?

Did Adam Idah deserve more time at Celtic?
When you look at Hyunjun Yang’s recent trajectory, we see clear proof that when a player is given patience and the time to grow into the shirt, the clear progression can be seen. Idah was never afforded that same grace.
Instead, he was made the ultimate scapegoat. The most glaring double standard in the Celtic squad involves Daizen Maeda.
There is no denying Maeda is a fantastic servant to the club with a phenomenal work rate, but if we are brutally honest about his goal return, he has only ever had one truly prolific six-month spell – the second half of last season.
Outside of that brief purple patch, Maeda’s finishing has been consistently poor, and he has never truly developed a clinical edge.
Yet, Maeda is universally applauded for his endless running, while Idah was heavily criticised and pushed toward the exit for not being the finished article.
Now, as Celtic’s current forwards continually misfire, the harsh verdict on Idah looks less like elite standards and more like a massive mistake.
