Celtic are exploring a move for Gornik Zabrze forward Szymon Wlodarczyk, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou is keen to add a forward to the squad, with the club making a bid for South Korean striker Chon Gue-sung in recent days.

But he is also keen on Polish goal machine Wlodarczyk if Romano is taken at his word.

The well known journalist was a special guest on Polish YouTube channel Meczyki this evening where he offered some insight on interest in the player.

“I have some stuff on my phone here about Szymon Wlodarczyk – the young striker who plays for Gornik Zabrze,” he said.

“He is a very talented boy. I am told that in Poland you consider him as a potential young Lewandowski.

“I’m told that some clubs are exploring a move for him, including Anderlecht, Celtic and also Freiburg.

“But some Serie A clubs also moving for the summer.”

Wlodarczyk is just the latest name to enter the fray as Celtic hunt a new striker.

The recently turned 20-year-old has struck seven league goals for Zabrze this season, with his side sitting in the bottom half of the table.

Shortly after Romano’s appearance, Mark Hendry offered his insight on the club’s interest in the player.

Hendry tweeted: “I’d heard Celtic were interested in Szymon Włodarczyk of Gornik Zabrze.

“Faced a lot of competition. Podolski’s favourite teammate. There was a period it was close and Celtic knew £3.5m was fee club wanted.

“No movement since initial approach and Cho now priority.”

A brief look on YouTube compilations show him as a tall forward with a love for headed goals and neat finishes. It’s easy to see where the Lewandowski comparisons have come from.

We’ll have to wait and see if anything comes of it in the coming weeks.
