Celtic may be looking for first-team additions this summer, but that hasn’t stopped them planning for the future too.

Brendan Rodgers is keen to go for five-in-a-row and land another domestic Treble after falling just short in the 24/25 campaign.

Fans want to see a ‘major clear-out’ at Celtic this summer in order to stay ahead of the chasing pack and remain a dominant force in the league.

The development squad is also a priority and there is hope young talents can follow the same path as the likes of Callum McGregor to become a first-team regular.

But, with plenty of competition for the next big star, the Bhoys may face a battle to land his signature if they want to bring him to the club permanently.

Cliftonville youngster in demand after Celtic trial

It seems Celtic have an eye for young, Irish talent at the moment. In recent times, Liam Scales and Johnny Kenny have both moved from the Emerald Isle to Glasgow and transitioned into the first-team relatively well.

Shay Reid, 16, is another one of those who could move to Celtic after a successful trial but they aren’t the only ones after him.

The Belfast News Letter claims that the Cliftonville striker, who scored 51 goals in all competitions at youth level last season, is being watched by Preston North End and Wrexham, as well as Scottish Premiership rivals Aberdeen.

Shay Reid can be inspired by Johnny Kenny’s Celtic journey

If Reid was to join Celtic, or another club for that matter, one person he can look to for inspiration is Kenny.

After joining from Sligo Rovers, the forward spent time with Celtic B and out on loan at Shamrock Rovers before returning and scoring for the first team against Aberdeen.

That Aberdeen victory was the forward’s first start for the Bhoys and with a full season to come, can expect to be involved more often with Celtic playing in at least four different competitions throughout the 25/26 campaign.
