Celtic’s pursuit of Felix Horn Myhre is about to be tested as FC Copenhagen enter the race for the Danish midfielder.
Myhre has been the Eliteserien’s stand-out player and has earned seven caps for Norway. Currently playing for Brann, Celtic’s interest in Myhre was first reported in January.
Brondby made an attempt to sign the 27-year-old in the winter transfer window, but Brann threw out their interest, but it seems that the Norwegian club will face a tough time hanging onto Myhre as he closes in on the final year of his contract.
🤔 Do Celtic need to sign a centre-back this summer?
Celtic can no longer sit on Felix Horn Myhre interest
Celtic have monitored Myhre in the past and as the summer transfer window starts to heat up, interest in the midfielder is starting to build once again.
Danish outlet Bold reports that Copenhagen’s interest should be taken seriously. This is a club who recruits well for players to compete in the Champions League.
They also give players a big platform to showcase their skills and deliver a pathway, like Celtic do, to get moves to bigger leagues in Europe.
If Celtic genuinely believe Myhre improves Martin O’Neill’s midfield, then they can’t afford to sit and wait for Copenhagen to make their move.
Copenhagen’s interest proves Celtic identified the right player
Good players attract good clubs and Myhre is certainly doing that.
The problem for Celtic is that with Copenhagen looking at the player, Myhre knows there is another club interested who could get him a big move to Europe.
Copenhagen can offer European football, regular trophies and a proven route into Europe’s top leagues. Those are the same selling points Celtic rely on when targeting players from Scandinavia.
Myhre is already one of the most attractive midfielders available this summer. Copenhagen entering the fray simply means Celtic cannot sit back and wait if they genuinely believe he is a player who will improve the side.
