It’s been a rather frustrating transfer window for Celtic this summer.
Although there have been a whole host of additions to the squad, Brendan Rodgers still wants to sign more players.
Jahmai Simpson-Pusey joined from Manchester City to become the latest recruit to walk through the door.
A winger is the next item on the shopping list but it seems that Celtic still aren’t satisfied with their defensive options.

Celtic had bid rejected for Cagliari defender Adam Obert
Two centre-backs have signed for Celtic this summer (Simpson-Pusey and Hayato Inamura) to add to the options of Cameron Carter-Vickers, Liam Scales, Auston Trusty and Dane Murray.
That seems to be enough for now; however, reports in Italy give the impression that Rodgers wants more.
According to Unione Sarda, the Hoops had a bid rejected for Cagliari defender Adam Obert.
The report stated that the Bhoys “failed to reach the right figures to reach an agreement” and that in order to secure the Slovakia U21 international’s signature, “a raise will be necessary”.
Who is Celtic transfer target Adam Obert?
Obert is a 22-year-old centre-back currently playing for Cagliari in Italy.
The defender joined the Serie A club in 2021 after initially coming through the youth ranks at Zbrojovka Brno before joining Sampdoria.
He’s made over 80 appearances in all competitions, scoring once in that time, and has been a regular international for Slovakia.
As a reward for his performances at club level, Obert was called up to Slovakia’s Euro 2024 squad but only played 25 minutes – all of those from off the bench.
