Celtic will be bringing in a new goalkeeper this summer at the request of Martin O’Neill.
Going by how Celtic usually go about their transfer business, you can’t guarantee it will be a high-quality performer.
But Manchester United’s Radek Vitek has been linked with a move to Parkhead, and he has stated in pre-season that he is looking to leave Old Trafford this summer.
67 Hail Hail asked our TalkingPoints users what they thought about these links with Vitek, and it’s fair to say that they are all on the same page.
What do you make of Martin O’Neill’s constant defence of the Celtic board? 🤔🍀

Celtic fans love the idea of Radek Vitek signing from Manchester United
Vitek was on loan at Bristol City last season, where he excelled in the Championship, and now he is looking for the next chapter in his career.
TalkingPoints user Dantowen81951 noted how the Czech Republic star is a ‘fantastic’ keeper, but his worry is around the price tag.
Given that he is a Manchester United player, it wouldn’t be a surprise if there is extra tax on his name and talents.
Jas1160 was straight to the point; the Celtic fan stated that if Vitek is ‘good enough’ for those in Manchester, then he would do nicely for the champions of Scotland.
Martin.Crawford echoed those words, but he noted a possible issue and how Vitek is ‘more inexperienced’ than Viljami Sinisalo.
As of this moment, Sinisalo is first choice, and there are sections of the Celtic Park fanbase who feel he should be the long-term replacement for Kasper Schmeichel.
But clearly, O’Neill sees it differently because he has made it clear in pre-season that he wants ‘another’ shot-stopper in the building.
Nonetheless, here is what 67 Hail Hail’s TalkingPoints users have made about those links to Vitek:
- Callum_Boyle: ‘Only if it’s permanent, although I’m happy with Sinisalo in goal. Other priorities to focus on first.’
- Johnprior999: ‘Wonder who will have to dislodge who to be first pick….🍀’
- Jas1160: ‘If Man Utd thought he was good enough then that’ll do me, just go and f___ing get him in, get someone, anyone!!!’
- Dantowen81951: ‘He should do, he’s a fantastic goalkeeper. I can’t see this happening though. United value him at about £20m, and I can’t see how another loan would increase his value any further.’
- Martin.Crawford: ‘From what I’ve seen, he looks very, very good. Even more inexperienced than Sinisalo, however.’
