Celtic supporters love nothing more than watching a player who gets them off their seats.

When Celtic signed Jota, the fans were buzzing as they knew the Portuguese was one of the best dribblers and entertainers they had seen at Parkhead for a long time.

Before that, Paddy Roberts and Lubomir Moravcik were another two wingers who Celtic fans worshipped and were excited to see pull on the green and white Hoops.

And now, it appears that the Celtic support can look forward to next season after Marc Rieper told them Brendan Rodgers is about to sign a ‘really exciting’ player this summer.

Benjamin Nygren ‘is a really good signing for Celtic’

We told this morning how Fabrizio Romano confirmed Celtic’s deal for Benjamin Nygren was done and that the Swede will sign a four-year deal with an option of a fifth included.

And reacting to that, Rieper has hailed Celtic’s £1.2m incoming player as a great piece of business by the Hoops manager.

Rieper told the Sunday Mail, “This is a really good signing for Celtic. Nygren was one of the top players in Denmark last season. A really exciting player.

“Nordsjaelland are unbelievable at developing players. They do it every year. They sell two or three every year for big money, £10million-plus. Then they just produce new stars at 17 or 18-year-old.

“They are probably the best in Europe at developing. They bought Nygren when he was an under 21 for Sweden but not really with a big reputation. They just nursed him and made him what he is now.

“They are really skilful at doing that. Now he is a full international with his country and doing well for them as well.”

Marc Rieper says ‘Celtic fans will really like’ Benjamin Nygren

As previously mentioned, Celtic fans love nothing more than watching a player take on and beat the opposition defence with skill and trickery.

And in Nygren, it appears that Rodgers is about to capture that kind of player the Celtic supporters would pay good money to see.

Rieper continued, “I think Celtic have done really well to sign Nygren. I have actually been a bit surprised that Nordsjaelland have been able to keep him for so long.

“His contract was close to running out so they couldn’t wait and let him go for free. They opted to keep him last season when there was some interest and try to get in the top six.

“They managed that. Now it’s time for him to move on. Nygren was in the top seven or eight goal scorers in the Danish league last season. He has a good technique from distance.

“As a winger he goes past people because he has pace. He has good skills with the ball and is a really neat passer, good at making connections with other players. He’s an exciting player. I think the Celtic fans will really like him.”

Fotmob rated Nygren an average of 7.5 in the Danish Superliga last season. The Swede also completed 21 successful dribbles at a success rate of 56.8%.

The winger also created 46 chances last season at Nordsjaelland averaging at 1.62 per 90 minutes.

If Rieper is correct and judging by these stats, the Celtic supporters look like they could be in for a treat with Nygren next season.
